Simply Shakita…
Hello and welcome! My name is Shakita. I am a born and raised South Carolina girl. Not only do I enjoy nature, good music, and soul food, but I truly love, love, looove God! From an early age, my family instilled in me the importance of having a relationship with God. I was instructed to trust in God and submit to him, no matter what came my way. And yes, that meant even when I did not understand (Proverbs 3:5-6) why things were happening the way they were. But, most importantly, my family made sure I knew I was special. For a child that means a lot. And I am special because I am fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s image (Psalms 139:13-16). FYI… you are special too!
Throughout the years, I have had the pleasure of being a Sunday School Teacher, Vocational Bible School Teacher, and Junior Superintendent of Youth Affairs. And, although I enjoyed wearing all those hats, I enjoy engaging with people outside of the church’s walls even more. It makes my heart smile when I am presented with the opportunity to speak life into someone who may not have otherwise realized that he or she matters and that their life has purpose (Jeremiah 29:11).
I know the question has probably crossed your mind by now, “Why did I start a blog?” The answer is simple. Because, it is easy to show love and respect to those who worship and exist like me, but I am called to do more. I am called to reach more. This blog will be a representation of God’s GRACE and mercy, his love and his kindness. I will be vulnerable with you about the good and bad parts of life. Because, what I know to be true is that even on my bad days, God is still good.
